ER/Emerge/Accident and Emergency

On Sunday evening after Fearghus got up from his nap he was looking for a snack.  As it was almost dinner time I decided to give him some peanuts so he wouldn't get overly full.  He started chowing down when suddenly I heard a wheeze and he started screaming and screaming.  I saw that there was a peanut stuck up his nose! Apparently he inhaled it up through his sinus canal. We tried to pry it out with tweezers but there was nothing doing.  He was hysterical so (feeling very foolish) I called the ambulance.  The paramedics came and did their best but that nut wasn't budging! They gave a teddy bear to each kid and we decided to bring him into the local hospital Hotel Dieu.  When a doctor finally got to see him it was a couple of hours later and the peanut was still visible near his nostril.  However when the doctor tried to use long tweezers to get the peanut out he just succeeded in pushing it farther back to the point where you could hardly see it at all.  Fearghus at this point had a blood nose and was hysterical.  Finally they had to get the resident, the attending and two nurses to come, hold him down and remove the peanut! It took the attending three tries before the whole thing came out.  It seemed pretty huge to me compared to his little nose! This kid needs to learn to eat slower and will be fed crushed peanuts until he is 20.

Andrew's sister Michelle bought the children these beautiful custom name puzzles
for Christmas.  About 5 minutes after opening them the kids lost one of Béibhinn's
'i's.  This loss has been haunting me for weeks, until I found it this week!! Woohoo!!!!

and settling in for a read of their library books :)

Fearghus turns 2

I can't believe my little man is 2 years old already!  He is completely obsessed with Elmo so I decided to organise an Elmo themed party for him and invited the two boys from church that he spends the most time with.  Only one could come but that was okay because he's got two sisters.  It was a very fun Saturday morning party and the kids had a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun putting the stuff together for the party. Pinterest how are ya!

It's so much more fun doing these things when both kiddos are mobile! I love that Fearghus can even manage the stairs on his own! My babies are growing up!!

Markham Wedding

Saturday April 11th we all got to attend Norman and Amanda's wedding in Markham. I took the opportunity to curl Béibhinn's hair,  It was so much fun, I think she looked very cute!

It was nice that Nai Nai and Ye Ye were there but also Béibhinn and Fearghus's Er Gu Ma (Auntie Amy) was there from San Francisco, The kids don't get to see her too often so they really enjoyed spending time with her.

Easter 2015

We decided to try making Resurrection Cookies this year for Easter.  It's a very fun way for the kids to learn about the Easter story. The kids really enjoyed making them (despite the photograph!).  They enjoyed it even more when we got eat them on Easter morning.  What a treat!



At church on Sunday morning we enjoyed watching our friend Dan get baptized.  It's been such an encouragement to see him get saved recently and see the Lord work in his life.



On both Good Friday and Easter Sunday Andrew and I played violin and guitar during the service.  It was really nice to get out the old violin and play again!



After the Easter morning service Erin Couperus's mum invited us to Brighton for a special Easter lunch.  Béibhinn loved spending the day with Josie! It was so much fun!

Laundromat

Remember my tummy bug story? Well the washing machine issue went on for a couple of weeks after that so we needed to do our washing at the Laundromat/Laundrette/Coin Laundry (trying to cover all my bases).  I actually kind of enjoy doing my washing at these places. It's almost a social visit.  This last visit Fearghus came with me and the Laundry owner gave him a lollipop.  He was very happy.  I usually pop down the hallway to The Chit Chat Cafe for a coffee while I wait.
