Saturday Morning Dance

Béibhinn has been kicking up a stink every Saturday about going to her dance class. This Saturday I managed to get her in there by just sitting in the class with her. She really enjoyed it! Hopefully she'll go on her own soon!

Felt Flower Pot

Finally got around to making this flower pot craft that Kathleen Carey gave to Béibhinn for Christmas. She's been bugging me all week to do it and as soon as it was done she wanted to show it to PorPor :D

Bible Bears

A dear friend at church gave the children these little bibles. A boy version and a girl version. They love them!

Read Along "Jesus Story"

Béibhinn loves reading along to the story and turning the page when she hears the chime :) Fearghus has to copy his big sister even if it's the wrong book :D

A New Reason for Blogging

Usually I don't post here much, haven't for nearly two years. Since deciding to take a long break from facebook I have decided to use this blog as a place to share little updates and photographs of our life in Kingston, Ontario (where we've been living for a year now).  This is a private blog which is only viewed by friends so the posts will be mostly photos with very little "story telling" I think :)
This is a less time consuming way to keep in touch.  Thanks for reading and please comment or email me :)

Here's some photos to get the ball rolling! We had this photo shoot done at Sears almost a year ago, but Steph Leger told me recently that I should have posted them online :D So here ya go Steph!

Six Weeks of Fearghus Timothy Patrick

I can't believe that it's almost 6 weeks since Mr. Fearghus was born.  It's been a lot of fun being a family of four but a lot of adjusting also.  The biggest adjustments are yet to come however.  For the first two weeks of Fearghus's life we had help from Andrew's parents and from a dear friend from church, Rosslyn.  I had two days on my own with the children and then Dad and Mum arrived from Ireland.  For the first two weeks we also had a constant stream of dinners and desserts being delivered from dear friends from our church and our neighbourhood, it was wonderful.  Dad stayed for 2 weeks.  While he and mum were here I just rested mostly while they took care of the children (I mostly just fed Fearghus when needed and held him a lot).  Then when Dad left I tried to mostly take care of Fearghus while Mum watched Beibhinn and took care of the house.  I've managed to get little organisation projects done here and there and I've attended many doctor appointments for both me and Fearghus but on the whole I've found my energy levels have been pretty low.  I find it takes a while for me to recover from c-sections, I'm just praying that the house won't fall apart once my mum leaves!!

So this is the biggest adjustment! Life on my own with two little ones. And they're both pretty little. Béibhinn is just 17 months and she's still not walking! However she is climbing the stairs so I can't take Fearghus upstairs to change his nappy and leave her downstairs because she'll be up after us on her own in a flash.  Fearghus is a little colicky and very spewy so he likes to be held for a while after feeds and Béibhinn likes to be held also.  I'm also tandem nursing so I'll often have the two of them on the seat with me looking to be fed.  It's going to be fun and any advice is much appreciated!

A couple of things I'm hoping to do:
1. Changing station on the main level
2. Baby carrier for post feeds
3. Napping while they nap!

Anyway here's a little photo update on my growing boy and sweet girl:

Week 3 Signature Style

So this week our challenge was to choose our signature style (a style that we tend to wear over and over) and to get creative with it.  I had to think about it but then one look in my closet told me, scarves! I have a huge box of scarves and shawls in my closet that I love wearing.  Another item that I love to wear a lot whether pregnant or not are leggings, I find them comfortable, slimming and stylish.  I was really looking forward to working on my "signature style" this week.  In advance of this week I pulled out all of my leggings and decided what scarves I should wear.  I also decided to challenge myself a bit by learning some new ways to tie my scarf and trying them this week.  I found this great video on youtube and made it my go to video for the week.

Monday
Today I wore this gorgeous red scarf that I bought in Penney's this summer along with my brown leggings. I chose the "Intricate Loop" tie at 2:26 on the video.

Leggings: Amazon.com, Top: Value Village

Tuesday
On Tuesday I wore a narrower scarf. One that my mother gave me this year for Christmas. I wore this with grey leggings and a blouse. I used the "Criss cross" tie at time stamp 4:37 on the video.

Top :passed on by my cousin,  leggings: Amazon.com
Wednesday
On Wednesday morning at 5:30am I wore the last of my signature style outfits as I prepared to head into the hospital for a scheduled c-section.  I even chose a tie for my scarf, I think it's my favourite one so far this week, even though I only wore it for a few hours,

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
From Wednesday morning to Sunday I made a dramatic change to my signature style. I found the cutest accessory ever and I've decided to roll with it for a few months.
Wednesday morning at 8:38am our sweet boy Fearghus Timothy Patrick Fung was born.
In these photos I'm wearing an amazing top called a kangaroo care top. It's designed for wearing baby skin to skin.  I ordered it from milkandbaby.com.  Love it!

Week 2 Colour

This week our challenge was to use colour to inspire our outfits each day.  Thankfully Imogen (the stylist who creates these challenges) gave us a list of colour ideas for each day this week.  I love bright colours so I really enjoyed this week. For most of the week,  the colour wheel was our go to guide for our outfits.

Monday Analogous Colours
So analogous colours are colours that are found right beside each other on the colour wheel. For this day I pretty much copied the sample colours on the wheel.  I wore deep pink,  purple and red. Interesting but fun mix.

The scarf is from Penneys,  cardigan from Dunnes (Irish  stores) The top is a maternity top passed on by my sister in law. And of course the trusty maternity jeans
Tuesday Complementary Colours
Complementary colours are colours that are found on opposite sides of the colour wheel.  This was a fun outfit for me,  I think complementary colours look really nice together. Again I copied the sample colours above and went with orange and blue. I was exhausted this night and only managed a self portrait from my bed.
Cardigan: Value Village (thrift store), Top: passed on by sister in law, Scarf: gift from a parent.
Wednesday Triadic  colours
Triadic colours are the colours that are joined by a triangle on the colour wheel. Now this made for an interesting mix of colours. I decided to wear a dark pink maternity top that I'd just found hidden somewhere then I did my triangle on the wheel and came up with green and orange! Fun!

Cardigan: Value Village, Top: Target maternity, Necklace: Value Village, all worn with my beloved maternity leggings
Thursday Monochromatic
Monochromatic colours are various shades of the same colour.  Now, I was supposed to choose a colour on the colour wheel. However I discovered later in the day that brown is actually a neutral colour and doesn't feature on the colour wheel...  Brown was the only colour that I had shades of so it had to do... So below is my #AprilStyle fail. This day I couldn't even sit up in bed, last month exhaustion is kinda flattening me!

Cardigan: passed on by sister in law, Top: Dunnes (I think), Butterfly necklace: had it for years, can't remember, Magnetic necklace: gift from Mum from Spain, Brown leggings: Amazon.com

Friday Colour and Pattern
So today I had to choose a patterned item of clothing and use that to inspire my outfit for the day.  I chose to wear a beautiful sheer shrug, I love this shrug and have worn it when pregnant and when not. It was fun to pick out the colours in it and make an outfit I've never worn before. I, of course, picked out as many colours as possible. Pink, red and blue!

Shrug: passed on by my aunt Gemma, Top: Value Village, Handbag: Vincent De Paul, LA, Leggings: gift from my Mum
Saturday Accessories in colour
Not actually sure if I did this one right but anyway.  I chose a handbag and picked my outfit around that.

Handbag: A gift from my friend Ayee in the Philippines, Top:  same as yesterday,  Dress: Vincent De Paul,  LA, Shoes: Vincent De Paul,  LA. Tights: Dunnes
Sunday Colour in Nature
Today's task was to use a photo from nature to inspire colour in our outfit. I did this backwards, come on! I'm pregnant!  My wardrobe is limited! I knew I had this great maxi dress in shades of purple, so I decided to find a photo in nature to reflect these colours.  I found a gorgeous shot of lavender growing in a field with a beautiful purple sky in the background.  I was inspired to wear the outfit as planned :-) By the way, maxi dresses in late pregnancy are wonderful!
Jacket:  passed on by my aunt Gemma, Dress:  passed on by my aunt Gemma, Messy room:  Béibhinn
Now I need to go and plan my outfits for next week.  This is such a great way to ensure that I get out of my PJs at some point in the day!

Pregnancy Update
Surprise surprise, it's a big one!  We're on the cusp of deciding now whether to do a repeat c-section or to try for a vbac.  Still hoping for that, but feeling more at peace about having another c-section. Getting more and more excited about meeting our little one!

This week I finished these soakers and got to go to a craft store with our friend Alison to pick up some seriously cute buttons!

Week 1 Accessorize

The challenge this week was to choose a variety of accessories and plan outfits around them.  I love accessories,  but I had a hard time getting much of a variety together. Belts just don't fit anymore and it's too cold to take out any of my pretty summer shoes. I don't have too much in the way of hats either,  especially for colder weather.  I did my best...

Monday
I wore one of my favourite ponchos.  I bought this in Cork many years ago,  I love the colours.
I wore my favourite maternity jeans and a purple top to match.

Tuesday
I wore a grey ribbon headpiece.  I bought this little number two years ago in Hong Kong.  It's very Hong Kong in style but I don't think I fully pull off Hong Kong fashion with this one!
I wore a pink lace maternity top with a grey cardigan and my ever faithful maternity leggings,  grey.
Wednesday
I wore a blue and orange head scarf. I bought this at Zellar's across the road just before it closed down.  I love wearing headscarves.  Great for bad hair days!
With this outfit I wore an orange top and blue cardigan along with blue leggings.
Thursday
I wore a beautiful green necklace and earring set, a gift from my dear friend Guinevere.

With this outfit,  I wore all brown,  including my trusty brown leggings!
Friday
I wore a lovely floral necklace that I bought many years ago in Cork.  This necklace feels very summery to me.  I feel like I'm trying to remind the weather of what season it is by wearing this!
I wore a white maternity top and jeans to match this accessory.
Saturday
I wore a colorful hairband today.  No idea where this came from.  I think my mother may have given it to me at some point. Béibhinn decided to join me for this photo,  she also decided to join us in bed for the rest of the night...

I wore a purple top and brown leggings this day.
Sunday
I think this might be my favourite outfit this week.  My parents took a trip to China this year and bought me this lovely handbag.  I'm not great for switching out my handbags,  I kind of stick with the same boring black one most of the time.  A challenge like this makes me use beautiful accessories like this handbag.  I think a nice handbag can really make an outfit.
I wore my favourite maternity dress,  black,  with a deep pink under tube.
Next week is all about colour.  I love colour so I'm looking forward to mixing and matching my clothes a bit more.

Pregnancy update
I think my bump looks much neater than it did with Béibhinn. Still no idea of it's a boy or a girl,  really don't feel qualified to guess. Baby's head is still down and s/he's facing the right way. My doctors seem quite happy with me. Still a few weeks to go but praying for this baby to come early so we can manage a natural birth!

April Style

In the last month as we waited for baby 2's arrival,  I decide to try another style challenge.  It keeps me from wearing the same tracksuit pants every day or just staying in my pjs all day long.  It's also a bigger challenge when massive like me!  Below are the guidelines for this month's challenge.  It's a week by week challenge so I'll post week by week if I think of it :-D

Hebrides Revival

I can be organised at times, I know that's hard to believe.  One of the things I like to do BEFORE baby arrives is get the birth announcement as ready as I can (not knowing the gender, weight, length, date of birth). I usually write an explanation of the names we've chosen to send to family after the baby's born so I make these in advance, one for a boy and one for a girl, we're ready whatever happens!
Anyway while doing a little online research for info on one of the names we've chosen, I came across this wonderful video, a reminder of what the Lord did in the Hebrides in the the 1950s.  It's a lovely video, hope you'll enjoy it:

32 weeks and counting..

Well I'm 32 weeks pregnant now and just counting down the weeks to baby #2. For two weeks in February/March we had Grandma come to stay and help us get more organising and preparation done before the baby gets here. I've started non-stress tests twice a week and will continue to do these until B-day. We're still really praying that we can avoid another c-section and have this baby naturally. Because it's such a short time since Béibhinn's birth they won't induce me so I will need to go into labour naturally as soon as possible.  My ob would rather have the baby born at 38 weeks but I'm hoping to hold her off for a few weeks in the hopes that I will go into labour naturally.

Béibhinn had her very first bout of sickness this past week.  I decided to join the fun and get sick too (the third time with this nasty cold this pregnancy). Poor Béibhinn was very sick! She had croup and laboured breathing.  I spent a few nights on the floor in her bedroom, she only wanted Mama the whole time.  She was so sweet and cuddly the whole time she was sick. I'm so glad to see her improving however.  She's sleeping so much better and eating us out of house and home again. I'm also very thankful that on her sickest day (and my sickest day) Andrew was working from home and was able to watch her while I slept. And boy, have I done a lot of sleeping this past week!  Not only am I sick but I'm feeling really exhausted at this point.
I'm feeling really uncomfortable and my back is hurting big time.  I don't remember feeling so uncomfortable with Béibhinn, but this pregnancy has just been completely different to my pregnancy with Béibhinn.  Up until now I was ignoring all of the exercises and tips that we learned in our Bradley classes in preparation for Béibhinn's birth. I think I was so deflated by having a c-section after all of that preparation that I'm just fed up and don't want to bother.  Now, however I'm finding that a lot of the Bradley exercises and tips, like not sitting on a the sofa, are the only thing that helps relieve some of the discomfort I've been feeling.

I'm also trying to get some of my knitting projects finished! I'm really hoping to get this blanket finished that I'm knitting for the baby.  I also have two soakers that need finishing.  I was hoping to knit some more but I think that this will be enough!  If I want to knit a blanket for each of my babies then I'm going to have to get started much earlier in the pregnancy in future!

The brain is also beginning to fail me these days.  Last night totally forgot about my non stress test, I'm really hoping that some day somewhere some of my brain cells will grow back and I'll feel like a new woman again!  Until then, don't expect too much of me :)
